Challenges
Mobile operators in rural areas grapple with challenges like high costs, complex deployments, and poor performance. At iSAT, we’re dedicated to delivering viable and dependable solutions. By focusing on cost-effective infrastructure, efficient deployment strategies, and advanced technologies, we aim to overcome these hurdles. Our commitment extends to fostering community engagement, training local workforce, and employing sustainable power sources to ensure seamless connectivity in rural regions.
Feasibility
- Lack of reliable power source
- Lack of reliable backhaul
Business Requirements
- High capital expenditure including Macro Cell, Shelter, AirCon, Diesel Generator and high Tower
- High operational expenditure for O&M Power, fuel and dedicated satellite backhaul
Engineered to perfection, designed to benefit to achieve Low Opex and Capex
Low Cost
- Low power consumption - Solar power
- No power or fuel bill
- Low satellite bandwidth cost
- On-demand, optimized compression
- Lightweight - Low-cost Tower
- Fully outdoor - No shelter/AC required
High Performance
- Software defined radios and network
- Wide coverage
- Fully IP and manageable
- Local switching for customer
- Experience and bandwidth optimization
Hassle-Free Deployment
- No heavy equipment needed to install, nor shelter to protect it.
- Hand-carried, tower-mounted base station.
- Direct connection of antennas to the unit - external RF components not required.
- Easy to connect to any IP-based satellite backhaul.
Main Pain-points of RAN Solution
Backhaul Transmission
- The cost of optical fibre is too high.
- Microwave transmission usually affects the stability of the link due to the high wind on the island and the influence of rain attenuation.
Site Acquisition
- The cost of civil work.
- Hard to find footprint for BBU room.
Hassle-Free Deployment
- Size and Weight is crucial to engineer cost
- All in one box (BBU+AAU+Antenna) solution is preferable.
- Power supply is limited to acquire
Business Model
- Capex and Opex Model: In this approach, the Mobile Network Operator (MNO) bears all capital expenditures, while iSAT Africa offers comprehensive services on a monthly subscription basis.
- Opex-Only Model: We provide fully managed services with monthly operational expenses under extended agreements of at least 10 years.
- Revenue Sharing: We collaborate with MNOs, sharing revenues while levying minimal fixed charges.
- Coverage and Compliance Model: To meet compliance requirements, we offer a model where a single tower, BTS, backhaul, and solar infrastructure can be shared by two operators, optimizing coverage while minimizing individual capital expenditure.
